I spotted your comment on Colleen's blog in response to her link to my blog candy against word verification. You said you wished there was another way.. There is! And you are using it! :o)
You have comment moderation enabled, which means that occasional spam comments cannot possibly get through to your blog, unless you publish them.
Between my blog candy post and previous posts I have made on the topic, I have had close to 200 comments and feedback through email. Out of that, only three people have reported any sifnificant amounts of spam. The rest all state they are receiving very small amounts. Myself, I have had two spam comments in four months (and they weren't 'bad' ones, if y'know what I mean!)
It's your choice, of course, but your visitors would thank you enormously if you got rid of word verification. You don't need both that AND comment moderation.
The word verification thing (aka 'Captcha') is also not reliable for stopping spam, as the spammers have software that can get through. Checkout my blog candy post for comprehensive arguments for cancelling it. Oh! Except I came across another one today in someone's comment... Blind people who use screen scanners cannot participate in the internet community because of word verification. Their scanners cannot read the captcha letters.
That by itself is a big enough reason, don't you agree?
OK.. I promise no more emotional blackmail! lol.. I'll leave you in peace to think about it. ;o)
hey Jennifer...that is a great card... I couldn't find a place to answer your question about the feedjit... go to the feedjit website...just click on the icon on my blog....then sign up with your blog info...then copy and paste it as an html code in your blog sidebar... Hope this helps.. Have a great weekend Robin
