Stampelkallan's Project of the week - Altered Notebook

On Saturdays The Stämpelkällan DTs share our Project of the Week! Some of our team members have been creating things with a certain theme in mind. For me...I used the stamp of the week this week The Living Tree - I LOVE him! Scroll down to see my card from yesterday!

This week we did altered notebooks and I chose to alter the cover of one of my Art Journals! Be sure to visit the blog for more ideas and to check out the rest of the Design Team!

LSS DT - Vegetarian Journaling Page - Organic Set

Playing catch up from Blogger's BIG BANG! Grrrrrr!

Anyhow...here is my project for this week for the LSS DT! I was so excited when Lindsay released THIS SET - I KNOW I will get a LOT of use out of it!!! I decided to do a funky vegetarian journaling page using the image. I left the 2nd page a little open...might use it for recipe space down the road or maybe quotes.

Here's a close-up!

SketchMania #43

Here is this week's sketch over at SketchMania! Participate in the challenge HERE! And below is my take on the sketch. I have to say it was a tough one for me! I decided to do a journaling page this week. I started with heavy colored cardstock and covered it with patterned paper and scraps from my scrap pile. There are 2 brads in there, too! I then covered the whole thing with Gesso. From there I colored, painted, and highlighted, and glued or stickled various sections. I added a few extras on top of that and then inked the edges of the torn paper because the Gesso naturally made that paper more 3-D than the others.

Something very different for me this week but it was FUN.

I challenge YOU to challenge YOURSELF this week, too!

Art Journaling: Model Citizen & LSS DT Project

This week I once again worked with Lindsay's Stamp Stuff Posh & Trendy Set over at MyGrafico! I have a feeling this set will NEVER get old! Lots of neat things to do with it that is for sure!

I decided to use a Digi Stamp in one of my Art Journaling Pages. This is more of a word association thing this time around. I was looking at this image and thinking "model" but I'm not much of a girlie girl so I was trying to think of another way to use the word and image of model and came up with this twist.

I'm also excited because this is the very first Art Journaling Page I used with my NEW Gesso! It's the first time I have even used Gesso! I also bought some Acyclic Paints and used one of the browns on this page around the edges. For the paint on the image itself I used 3 different colors and would like to point out that painting really isn't my forte but I am fairly pleased with the job I did here and yes I used an actual paint brush! I didn't cheat!

Check out my sidebar for the other LSS DT Blogs and their projects this week!

Art Journaling - Collage - Motivation

Here is my very first Collage! I'm fairly excited about it...being my first official attempt and all. I've been having awful cabin fever this winter and have really started making some changes in my life. I thought this was appropriate. I used various Scrapbooking Paper Scraps and ads and scraps from a Yoga Retail Catalog for most of this.

Art Journaling - BLUE

Here is a double side-by-side layout I did this past weekend...I used Elmers Glue and a navy blue acrylic paint for the base then used some embossing powder over top where the BLUE writing is and some metallic markers for the journaling. The Balance text was something one of the Art Journaling Groups sent out for an idea starter but I liked the phrases and used them verbatim.

Art Journaling - Time

Here is another Art Journaling Page I did over the weekend. This was inspired by TWO Songs...Time Is Ticking Away by DC Talk and Time Is On My Side by the Rolling Stones. I used a Digital Stamp here from Sarah Paris over at MyGrafico.com and I ended up altered it a lot so you can't really tell but it was the base for the clock...

Art Journaling - Space Between

I'm starting to do some Art Journaling and Art Journaling Collages that I will be posting over the next week or so. I have joined 2 Yahoo Groups, too, and am meeting some really great people that have been extremely helpful and have been providing some wonderful encouragement.

This specific page was inspired by SPACE BETWEEN by Dave Matthews Band. I think music is a great way to get my creative juices flowing.

Since I have yet to purchase Gesso I tried to make my own...this page has Elmers Glue and light silver acrylic paint. After it dried I when over it with Tim Holtz Distress Ink.
