Flower Power

LinkI'm trying out for another Design Team! Cheery Lynn Designs! You can read all about it here! I really hope I make it but there are tons of awesome crafters applying - so I'm nervous! LOL - But I am always excited to see who 'makes it' regardless if I do or not! :)

Here's one of my projects using one of my photographs, various papers, letter stickers, embellies, journaling, bling, and a few other things!

When people as me my 'style' it's so hard to explain because it's usually based on mood. I have so many interests so it's not surprising that I have so many different styles, I guess. It's probably easier to explain what I am NOT and that would be girlie, I suppose. This project is about as girlie as I get - on my own - that is...if asked I will jump into my stash of 'pinks' just to create a project based on a theme.

CHEERS! Have a great week!

CHALLENGE ALERT at Ch{all}enge Masters

VISIT AND JOIN IN ON THE FUN BY CLICKING HERE
I think our January Recipe is appropriately named:

BRRRR!!!

Click here to see Our Album in the Gallery!

THE RECIPE!
1. B - something Blue on your layout 2. R - Rhinestones
3. R - Rounded Corners
4. R - Rub ons
5. R - Ric Rak
6. Your page must contain a lot of white space! (adding for clarification: White space is nothing. White space is the absence of content.)

This recipes is to be the "foundation" of your layout. Just like any recipe, a cook may want to add a little of something else and that's just fine. But your layout must include at least these items.

The Important Stuff:
Rules to earn a draw:
*Each submission must be a newly created paper project specifically for the challenge.
*Only one entry per category.
*Paper submissions only. Sorry, no digital allowed.
*Challenges may be combined, but each submission is one entry no matter how many challenges are combined.
*Each submission must be uploaded to our gallery no later than 11:59PM ET on the last day of the month to be eligible for the random draw. That would be Thursday, December 31st, 11:59pm Eastern time.
*Each submission uploaded to the gallery must include, in the title line, the group name & the month/year {For example: Recipe 1/10} to be eligible for the random draw. Don't worry about getting it in the group's album...magical elves behind the scenes moves them each day...that is why there is a title requirement.
*Each submission must follow ALL requirements of the challenge to be eligible for the random draw. For example, if the challenge states blue must be used then there must be some blue in the project to qualify.

I assist Suzann with this group over at Challenge Masters...on the DT...here is my example for this challenge...It's a pic of my sister and I when we went to the Winter Classic on New Years Day when the Sabres and Penguins played a few years ago...and boy-oh-boy was it COLD.

I'm a Guest Designer on Scrap That Poetry!

I'm so excited to be a Guest Designer this month on Scrap That Poetry! The first Projects and Challenges are up NOW...check it out! The poem this time around was IF by Rudyard Kipling. You can read the poem below and after that are my 2 Lay Outs.

IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster

And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings

And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,

If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

We could pick one word or phrase from the poem and create a page or take the who poem and do something with it. I did two LO's and this first one I took a few lines and ran with it. Also brought attention to a few of the words individually. The pictures were taken at camp this summer during a "Corn Hole" Competition. Since My Husband, his Brother, Mother, and Uncle were getting a little more competitive than they should I thought it would be fun to do a page.

This picture is of my mother playing putt-putt in Florida. She was concentrating oh-so-hard!

Scrappin' Whispers and a few cards just for fun...

I remember this game as TELEPHONE but below you can find the official description on the Network along with the link. This was my first time playing along. It was FUN and it's gets you thinking outside the box...or in this case the page! SEE BELOW...

Come and play a round of scrapping whispers! It's a fun scrapping game based on the old kid's game of Chinese whispers where we pass on a secret LO.
Join in by clicking here: Scrapping Whispers on Scrapbooking/Crafting Friends

And here are a few cards that I did just for the heck of it. I do have some others I need to post soon as they were featured in ReadySetCreate! YAY! Anyhow...the HI one that is pictured above was done mostly with old Creative Memories supplies and the one below I did with Recycled Scrapbooking Paper, a Rub-On, Gems, and the rose is from the Cricut Cartridge: MICKEY AND FRIENDS. This past weekend I went to AC Moore and they had Cricut Cartridges on sale for $49. These Disney ones are usually $99 each...so I ended up getting this one and the MICKEY FONT Cartridge for less than the price of 1 at it's normal price. I was so jazzed! YAY!

A Few Projects

Here is a page I Did for a 2's Challenge over at Scrapbooking and Crafting Friends. Denise posted it and it was part of our Tremendous Tuesday's Group. This week was TWO's - we could only put 2 of each item on the page. I think I was successful...2 of each...photos, photo mats, pieces of paper, flowers, gem brads, gem stars, adhesive phrases, ribbon, buttons, and 2 diff inks on the yellow paper.
Another group we have on the network is Cuttlebug Users and Nicole posted the first challenge - it was to use 1 Embossing Folder you use the least. I hate paisley and if I used that one I would be amazed...I don't think I did and the 2nd one I like just haven't used yet...so I did two!

80s Journaling Challenge

This is from the 80s Journaling Challenge. I went with the infamous JEAN JACKET and paired it with the song ROCK ON...which mentions "Blue Jean Baby Queen" in it. I also added Judd Nelson for good measure. Also added glittery stars and denim fabric ribbon with glitter, too. The paper reminded me of some Jean Jackets I saw back in the day so I used that in the upper right hand corner and journaled more towards the bottom. I really liked this challenge it was FUN!

I Am Pick Of The Day! YAY!

OMG! I just found out that I was Pick Of the Day over at Serendipity Scrapbooks! WOWZA! I'm soooooo excited! Here is the page that made it. It was for the Rainbow Bright Challenge during the CROP for this weekend! We had to use at least 5 colors...I used more. I also stayed with the Rainbow Bright Theme and used a phrase from the Theme Song as my Title! It was pretty fitting because I was rather annoyed in this picture because of all the snow I had to shovel the one morning...so...I really DID need cheering up! LOL

Time After Time Challenge

One of the first challenges I did this weekend was the TIME AFTER TIME Challenge. We had to repeat 'something' in 3 different ways. So...now only did I USE Time After Time as my title...I used the lyrics for the page. I also continued with the theme - ever since I saw Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion...so...when I saw TIME AFTER TIME...I HAD to do the page! I kept thinking about the end when they danced to TIME AFTER TIME. As for the repeating...I not only used the text of the word TIME...I also went with a die cut of TIME hands and added a clock button as well as a photo of a clock. I really enjoyed this challenge...it just seemed like everything fell into place!

Ugly Duckling?

One of the challenges we had this weekend was to take paper you find ugly and do something...anything...with it. Here is one of my many ugly pieces of paper! I like the colors but it was too busy and I didn't think it went with much...but then I found these pics...and it reminded me of a "map" of a wooded area and thought it was fitting! So...see...even the weird, ugly, and scary type papers can be used for something!

Somebody's Been Scrappin!

Somebody's been scrapbooking! I spent a good part of the weekend at an online crop! I will be posting several items VERY SOON! Please stay tuned!

Here is a LO I did last night for the RSC Online Crop. The Journaling Says...Life Without Love Is Like A Tree Without Blossoms Or Fruit ~ Kahlil Griban
